NCFC Gravedigging, operating from Bybrook Cottage, 351 Barkham Road, specializes in grave digging services. We acknowledge our environmental footprint, including emissions to air and water, along with waste generation. Our commitment is to adhere to legislative standards, minimize our environmental impact, and foster responsible operational practices. This updated policy outlines our approach to achieving these objectives in 2024 and beyond.

Responsibility

This environmental policy encompasses all facets of our operations, including management, office services, site operations, and procurement. The Managing Director (M.D.) holds ultimate responsibility for allocating resources to meet our environmental goals and for the policy's execution. Day-to-day adherence and effectiveness monitoring fall to the M.D., yet all employees bear responsibility for contributing to the policy's success within their capacities.

Objectives

For 2024, we aim to:

  • Advance the efficient use of resources by conserving energy and water, minimizing waste, and enhancing recycling efforts.

  • Fulfil our duty of care regarding waste through secure storage, transportation, and the facilitation of recovery or disposal.

  • Prioritize the use of recycled construction materials where economically viable.Minimize transport usage and ensure regular vehicle maintenance for optimal efficiency.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to mitigate environmental impacts of their products and transport.Incorporate environmental considerations in the procurement of new equipment, plants, or adoption of new work practices.

  • Educate and involve all employees in achieving our environmental objectives and understanding their role in these efforts.

  • Select the most eco-friendly cleaning products available.

Targets

To achieve our aims, we have set ourselves the following targets:

  • Implement strategic work scheduling to reduce vehicle emissions and mileage.

  • Reduce the generation of both general and hazardous wastes by optimizing stock levels and precise job scoping.

  • Maximize recycling of office-generated paper, cardboard, plastic, and metal.

  • Decrease paper consumption by expanding electronic communication and document management.

  • Monitor and manage energy consumption, incorporating staff training on energy conservation practices.

Monitoring and auditing

Progress against these objectives will be monitored through a number of mediums including:

  • Annual reviews of this environmental policy and related procedures.

  • Regular internal audits to assess compliance and effectiveness.

  • Tracking of environmental objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Monthly management meetings to review environmental performance and strategies.

Communication

This environmental policy is available at our facilities. All members of staff will receive training on the environmental responsibilities of their role, and will be informed of any updates or revisions via e-mail or team meetings.
